$9.45 hourly. with no relevant experience/$9.97 hourly per hour with six mo. relevant experience /$10.50 hourly after one year relevant experience with 6 mos. in ABA program
Duration of Job:
Subject to the approval of the Residential Coordinator, the Residential Trainer is selected by the Shift Supervisor and is accountable to the Shift and Relief Supervisors of the Behavior Treatment and Training Center. Works directly with children and adolescents who have mental retardation and problem behaviors, such as aggression, self-injurious behavior, and non-compliance. Implements behavior analysis programs and special treatment sessions. Provides frequent positive interactions with consumers. Conducts social skills, leisure, educational, recreational and vocational training. Is responsible for the daily care of the persons served, providing supervision, a safe and pleasant environment, and assistance with self-help and daily living activities. Performs and assists persons served in performing household tasks. Meets specialized needs. Assists in transitioning persons served to their discharge placements. Records data. Is responsible and accountable for the adherence to and promotion of the compliance policy. Promotions based on satisfactory work performance. Works flexible hours and days. Other duties as assigned. High school diploma or GED.
Experience and ability to work with others and to work patiently and effectively with persons with mental retardation. Experience and ability to endure extensive contact with severely aggressive/self-injurious consumers and physically manage such behavior. Ability to interpret, communicate and carry out oral and written instructions. Bilingual skills.
License or Registration:
Valid Texas Driver’s License in good standing with Texana’ Center’s policy
PMAB and CPR. Must be able to perform light lifting (15#), pushing, stooping, light carrying (15#), repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting. Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception. Qualified individual must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
