Functional Behavioral Assessment – An accurate assessment of the causes of a problem behavior is critical when developing an effective behavior treatment plan. As the Board Certified Behavior Analyst conducts this assessment of both the antecedents and consequences of the problem behavior(s), the family members may be involved.
Behavior Treatment – A behavior treatment plan is written based on functional assessment results and is updated based on ongoing data collection and analysis. The behavior treatment plan is implemented in highly structured environments starting with the two six-bed group homes, classrooms staffed by the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, sessions conducted by the Board Certified Behavior Analysts and progresses to community integrated environments.
Family Training – Families are very involved while their child is staying at the Behavior Treatment and Training Center. They participate in numerous clinical sessions with their child and sessions where they learn techniques of positive parenting and applied behavior analysis procedures that develop desired behaviors, teach compliance and decrease problem behaviors. A high level of family participation in the training is necessary for generalization of treatment and ease of transitioning.
Transition plans are developed to transfer successful intervention strategies and procedures to the family, school and/or provider. Training in applied behavior analysis is also offered to providers, organizations and schools. This training is highly participatory and includes demonstration, role-play and lecture.
